exporting flash file to be used in website

Hi, can anyone tell me what version i should export the file as, there are options from Flash Player 1 up to 8.

I assume its 8, but would that mean it will work on less peoples computers?

Go with 8. The player is a small download, and to upgrade to the latest version is something most people will do as a matter of course when they know a new one is available. 8 gives you some nice new features, so go with it.
