    Default Sky Software update

Been at least a year and a half since I unplugged my Sky box and stuck it to one side. Still sat there so thought I should probably flog it to someone who might use it as it is a reasonable Panasonic box.

My question is if I give it my mate with a Sky sub to stick his card in and plug in will it automatically update the software on the box or will he need to do anything. I seem to remember seeing somewhere that there was a time limit to performing the upgrades.

    Cheers in advance

Lol I can't remember the model number mate but last time I looked they were hitting 40 quid on ebay. I have two remotes and digi coax extension for it but no power lead and still no idea if it will upgrade. ;-)

The update comes via the sat and will be performed when its due OTA. He could always force an update with the "backup" button

How do you mean? When do you press the bugger?

The box has ben plugged in now and doesn't give me a menu though if I type a channel number it sometimes picks it up and if I press the Services button it just throws a blue screen.

    http://www.satcure.co.uk/digifaq2.htm#backup

Although I disagree with the following .....

"As soon as this happens, you'll see a message on the screen (only if you have connected via the TV Scart)."

It shows fine via Sky HD with HDMI
