Dashboard Update (aka the 1080p fix)

The next time you sign into Xbox Live, you’ll be prompted for a dashboard update. The update contains:

Improved support for HD video output over VGA, including 1080p resolution
Improved plug and play performance for wired headsets when being used with wireless controllers
Changes made to recently played games list to improve accuracy
This update is being rolled out across the world, so you may not get it exactly at this moment, so be patient.

no issues with hacked firmware here,downloaded it and my 360 rebooted and logged me streight into live.
the mrs is now playing(yet a-fucking-gain) viva pineata

no issues with me , think it's just a random fix for a few problems , has'nt fixed the freezing issue from the last update though

They need to bring out a gallery or something for the vision camera so you can save pictures.

hi guys, was going to buy the sony bravia 46" lcd but it dont support 1080 through vga, so dont know which way to go now, any ideas guys, paulyd2k

If a TV doesn`t support 1080p, will the 360 play in 1080i instead?
Is there any "noticable" difference if your not a TV nerd who sits 2" away from a 42" or bigger screen and tries to pick out faults....?

yeah the 360 will play in 1080i mate,i got a sammy 40" hdtv and i play in 720p,cos to be honest i cant tell the difference between 480p 720p and 1080i although i may just be a blind fuck!
obviously the difference between crt and hd is massive but as i say i cant find any difference between the hd settings.

sounding f***ing dumb yet again, but what is the hd settings supposed to do between 480p, 720p and 1080i. i have tried all these settings on the samsung 32"lcd and it doesn't seem to make any difference. i'm using the hd cable that comes with the premium 360.


also does anybody get this issue with your lcd tv's

when playing any xbox 360 game call of duty for example. i'll be running along swing left to see who's about and all i see is a blur when moving/look left or right. it knocks me sick, yet if look up or down its pretty clear. i've tried the controll settings of speed and its still blury, its acutally worser than watching someone play doom

480p = 338,000 pixels / frame
720p = 922,000 pixels / frame
1080i = 1,037,000 pixels / frame
1080p = 2,074,000 pixels / frame

Erm guys... Most LCD TV's (unless you have a fucking expensive one) have a screen resolution of 720p any way.

2ndly... I believe that all xbox games are 720P. If you set the xbox to 1080i or 1080p then the game is still only created in 720p... it is just upscalled to 1080.

So this leaves you with this silly situation...

Game is 720p
Xbox scales it up to 1080
Your TV accepts the 1080 signal but only has a 720 sceen.
TV down scales back to 720

Unless your TV has a screen resoloution better than 1,366 x 768 then anything other than 720P is a waste of space.

Anyway. the 360 only outputs the true 1080 signal on the Dashboard or HD movies!
