What were peoples thoughts on Barcelona? Criminally, I've hardly travelled around Spain at all.
Barca is a nice place, make sure you do the tour and check the gothic quarter out, it really is a beautiful city!
If you want to take you gf somewhere pretty cool then get her to Danzatoria - it's a club located up in the hills, basically they've converted a house / mansion and it's pretty awesome there, was over there for TechEd a few years back and MS threw a party at Danzatoria and it was absolutely amazing!
Check it out here - http://www.danzatoria-barcelona.com/eng.html
I dunno if this is any help M8

Barca is a great city one of my fav's, great food atmos and beer, fantastic nightlife down by the Olympic Port
Lots to see and do as much or little culture as you want, with the weather and beaches it has everything (God I think I am Judith Charmers!)
I was there recently. I stayed in the Vincci Arena Hotel. It was awesome. Just around the corner from Placa Espanya. Metro station and shops nearby. I'd definiteley stay there again.

I've been twice (2002 and Aug 2006) and thinks it's a great city.
I saw Barcelona vs. Malaga at the Nou Camp which even for a non-football fan was a great experience (tickets bought on the day were about £30 in 2002). Also went up the Gaudi cathedral (boring and slightly claustrphobic), went to the Bagdhad Live Sex show club (not for the ladies) and have walked around a large part of the city.
Many people don't realise it has a pretty good beach, although it gets pretty crowded in the summer. Loads of great looking women out there too.
If you like good food and want to impress the missus by being Old Jim Swanky, book a table for dinner here:

It is located on the beachfront in the Port Olympic. It's a stylish restaurant/bar then club as the evening goes on. A smart place with quite a lot of pretty folk swanning about and a gorgeous hostess. The foods good (they have a designated Sushi chef there) and the music is very good too. Best night to go is on Saturday night if you can. It's not disimilar to Nikki Beach Marbella although they don't have their own private beach area.
Avoid: Baha Beach Club, it's next door to Carpe Diem and is one of the worst clubs I have ever been to.

Great hotel and a great location (right off Gothic Quarter) and not too expensive (€100).
'If we aren't meant to eat animals, then why are they made out of meat?'
Anon.
Yeah, I'll get there eventually and when I do I'll plan it to take in a Barca game no doubt. I didn't know it had a beach either.
My mate's recently moved to Spain, bought a rundown barn/shed and is renovating it into a nice little villa with a few acres of land. When he gets that built I'd hazard a guess at some mob-handed trips to Catalonia and more than one or two evenings in Barcelona.
