    Default Buildings/Home Insurance

I've just bought a house and I believe I require some insurance by law for rebuilding/repairing the building in the event of destruction.

Is this Buildings Insurance? Home Insurance?

    Any recommendations?

Its Buildings and they will all rip you off. I think we are with more than at the moment as they were the cheapest. Try using buy.co.uk to find a deal.

Regardless of whether it's required by law, would you really want to live uninsured..?

Of course not - but I want to make sure I got the right one.

to own a building you must have building's insurance by law I belive. Don't quote, check http://www.landreg.gov.uk/ perhaps.

I know that to build or develop a property you must have buildings insurance to protect yourself/the property and other buildings around you. Again, I'm sure this is the law to have it.

I've just brought property too, and yeah, it's all part of the fun.
    I'm new to this

Most mortgage companies will insist on insurance being purchased..

Go to Quidco and go through to either Barclays or Lloyds. I bought buildings and contents as two separate policies and got £120 cashback on both of them. Net cost about £20 for both buildings and contents. They were paying ME to have buildings insurance after cashback.

Thanks all, used buy.com. Couldn't use some of the insurers because I have a lodger and they wouldn't cover that.
