    Default External programmer?

Hey, after seeing that you need to repatch all your games when using a chip, instead of a flashed drive, I was wondering where I could get an external programmer.

The pyropen I'm looking at getting is this one, but I dont have a clue where to get a programmer from, or which one is best for the job!

I have an old PCB here that has a similar chip to that on the 0078fk, and I'm gonna use that to practice on (bascially remove it, read the chip, erase it, and re-program it) before actually doing a 0078fk!

Now other than wondering where to get one from, I'm also wondering if the programmer can be used to program other chips too?

    Thanks!

remember, it's not just desoldering required - its resin removal too - keep your fingers crossed the resin isn't underneath the chip!

Yea, was looking for that ModFreakz vid that shows you how to remove the black epoxy and desolder/resolder the chip, but YouTube has removed it, because it was in breach of their policy, and every other site that had it basically had the YouTube vid embedded on the site, so I cant find a working version ANYWHERE!

And I'm praying that there's no epoxy under the chip itself, and that I can at least remove it and dump the FW onto my PC, cos once thats done, I can buy another TSOP32 chip and program that if I f*ck up the other one!

BTW, just out of curiosity, where can I get hold of some blank 39SF020A (TSOP32) chips?

Cant seem to source 'em anywhere! Might ask one of the techies at uni, and see if they know where to get 'em!

EDIT: Just saw the above post! Thats great news incase it f*cks up! But would still like to know where I can source more...for future reference.

After looking at this pic, it appears that the chip on the 78fk's are infact 39VF020, not 39SF020(A)!

You can get blank ones here for 5 euros a piece!

But will the programmer that TheThingIs mentioned definitely work with the 39VF020? Because it says it "Supports SST 39SF020A 39SF040 TSOP 32"...I have asked the seller as well, but just wondered if u guys knew...
