    Default how can I let google know what country a site is from?

    Hi,

    When you search on google you get these options:

    Code:
    Search: "the web" "pages from the UK"
    I've managed to get a website on 1st page of google listings, but it only shows if you search "the web" and doesnt show at all if you select "pages from the UK"

    How can I ensure google list the site as being from UK? The site is hosted in Hong Kong and I am using a .com domain so I can see why it is not seeing it as a UK site, but is there any way (maybe meta tags?) that I can change this?

    thanks

    Have looked into this myself. I'm pretty sure the only way of getting in the UK search is having a .co.uk or a UK IP address.

    okay I've had another look, if you search for "news" on a UK search only - google link

    FT.com is on the first page, obviously with .com domain and they are hosted in the USA. Does anyone know how they are managing to get included in the UK searches?

    They have UK in their meta tags, is this enough to get them included, even when they are hosted abroad?

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html
    xmlns= "http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"
    xml:lang= "en"
    lang= "en"><head><base target="_top"/><meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type"/><meta content="true" name="MSSmartTagsPreventParsing"/><meta content="The latest UK and international business, finance, economic and political news, comment and analysis from the Financial Times on FT.com" name="description"/><meta content="uk business news, uk world news, uk finance news, uk financial information, breaking news uk, uk headlines, uk political news, global business news, financial times, ft.com, FT, ftgroup" name="keywords"/><title>World business, finance, and political news from the Financial Times - FT.com UK</title>

    thanks
