    Default Computer startup problem

my computer is refusing to boot up. when i push the power button on, all the lights nd fans come on as normal, nd 5 secs later it will turn itself off. Occasionally it will then try agen only to turn off agen 5 secs later. The computer has recently been packed nd moved so im assuming ive knocked a connection loose but not knowing enough about the internal workings of computers i cant seem to find the problem. Any ideas as to where to look?

If it's shutting down that quick sounds like something obvious.
I've seen it happen when a system is given a sharp jolt and the cooler comes adrift from the CPU. You power it up and it overheats in a few seconds and shuts down (hopefully to prevent damage). Pop the cover off and have a look.

first thing is to open it up and reseat & clean all connections , try running with just one mem stick if poss. , if still got problem might have to start swapping bits , I'd go for psu first

i would disconnect all non essential cards and usb devices.
leave only the motherboard, processor, ram, video card and your boot hard drive in, and see what happens.
if it boots, start adding back your CD/DVD rom drives and cards until it stops working again
