    Default Wireless internet access problem

    Hi,

I bought a dlink di-524 wireless router and dwl-g122 usb adaptor to set myself up around the flat, but having a few teething problems with it.

Have searched threads, but cant seem to find answer to my prob, so hope someone can help out!

I initially couldnt get network between my desktop and laptop to setup at all, was stopped at "acquiring network address" constantly, so decided to assign an address from the routers range onto my laptop wireless connection, and now connection is fine and can share media around the house.

Problem is i still cant log onto internet from the laptop, but can from the desktop, despite the connection being live and signal strength being full, and this is prety much the main reason i bought the kit!

Can any of you tech types advise, i really dont have a clue where to start now, so would much appreciate any help

    Cheers

    Steve

82.41.246.1 is that the IP address of the router?

    Normally 192.168.0.1
    Or 192.168.2.1

the default gate way should normally the first available address on the network

    ie

    82.41.246.1 Router
    82.41.246.2 Com2 1
    82.41.246.3 Comp 2

So gives us the details of Each computers settings and the Ip address of your router also include subnet masks and gateways

Details i gave before were from WAN settings on router

192.168.0.1 is the IP address of the router,

192.168.0.150 is the IP of the PC, 192.168.0.1 is showing as the default gateway on the PC, 192.168.0.1 is also the DHCP server and 1 DNS Server address, the other DNS Server on the PC is 62.31.64.39. Subnet mask showing as 255.255.255.0

Lappy has 192.168.0.155 as IP, 255.255.255.0 as subnet, 82.41.246.1 as the default gateway, and 62.31.64.39 and 62.31.112.39 as the DNS Servers

Many thanks for having a look at this for me!!

    Cheers

    Steve

    thats yer problem.

    it should be 192.168.0.1

you have to point it to your router, just like the pc, not your ISP's gateway.
