    Default sly broadband

    Hi,

Im almost ready to move into my new build house which has a bt line installed with multiple ports around the house, however i dont want to go with bt,

sly have their offer of free broadband with a basic package,

question is does the bt line have to be activated? do i need to pay bt line rental, I live in a LLU area so i dont really need bt, but does this mean i pay the line rental to sky instead?

I've been otherwise occupied for a while, but everything I read about Sky is not good at all.

    To answer your questions though...

    1. Yes the line needs to be activated, this applies regardless of who you use for an ISP.

    2. Yes, you would need to pay line rental, and this would be payable to BT.

I have to agree, as a hardcore Telewest Blueyonder fan for the past however many years I made the leap to Sky Broadband and cannot complain at all.

£10 a month for the 'max' 16mb package, I have had no problems, it was a piece of piss to set up (opted to do it myself) and I got a free wireless modem/router which required no config and works perfect with my pc (wired), 3 laptops, xbox 360 and wii.

I did have my doubts and didnt cancel my Blueyonder connection until I had tested the Sky one.

I honestly cannot fault it and it saves me £15 pm over Blueyonder (and that was a 4mb line)
