Can anyone please give assistance !

The problem is got the little lad a xbox 360 online from HMV and played fine on xmas day but now when i put in PES6 it comes up with a white screen saying insert a xbox 360 game and both on PGR3 and table tennis it freezes at the loading screen.

There is just the one green light on front of xbox and no other lights appear, any assistance is appreciated

I would get it replaced mate, might be a odd one from a dodgy batch? Some had over heating problems and weird screens when it was first released. Or have you modified it...?

Just got off phone to MS support and indeed needs sending back, cant even get to dashboard to check settings now just getting a black screen.

Do you know how long the turnaround is for getting new machine back off MS ?

    Cheers for your replies.

Mine freezes all the time - I'm guessing due to overheating but I have no isses with dodgy screens etc. Any ideas?

Also, I've got 11GB of stuff on the hard drive and don't want to lose it all if I send it back, anything I can do?

They did email me a confirmation of order and a shipping note but local HMV said they would not accept that as a receipt.

UPS collected 360' this morning so hopefully should be back early part of next year.

I would like to know what percent of new 360's are actually replaced, because everyone i know with a 360 have had it replaced at some point.

from what iv read m8, most consumer electronics have an average failure rate of about 3%.....the 360 has (or did have about 2 months ago) a failure rate of about 40%!!! So even if that was because they were due to launch consoles only, and they've now sorted the problem, the failure rate is still prob about 30%...10 times the average failure rate for ALL consumer electronics!!

Sounds like shoddy workmanship to me in all honesty! If M$ stopped cutting corners to reduce production costs (like using better solder for a start), then im sure that they would have less failures, and they would save more money in the long run!

The reason I mentioned using better solder was because a few folk have been getting dead consoles back to life by heating up the internals with a hot air gun and letting it cool, which bascially re-melts all the solder and lets it cool to form better contacts.

If those stats are correct thats bloody worrying as well as disgusting!!!

Imagine if the pc software they produce had a failure rate of 40%, windows would be the least used proggy!!! and gates wouldnt be in the position he's in now.

@boromad, if i was you mate i'd buy him FIFA, i think your lad and pro evo just dont go together I hate it when toys dont work on xmas day!!! So far we have had 3 toys that are duds, one of them was in my daughters top 5 so she wasnt impressed.

She even said to me "why did santa bring me a broken toy""was i naughty" She's only 4.
Problem is the way they package toys nowadays with those friggin cable ties and wires, you just cant check them properly.
