How do i find my wep key??!!

Hello people, simple one really, iv got a dell pc, running aol (connection + software), and a netgear wireless router, and i cant find my wep key for shit!!! When i installed it all, it gave me the wep key, which i wrote down, and used to connect my laptop. But she has moved it now , and im trying to get my xbox up and running. Can anyone please tell me how to find it....

Well you could use one of the wep cracking bits of kit out there or easier is to just connect to the router with your laptop (use cable) and get it from there. Or if your laptop/computer can connect to the internet/router connect wirelessly and get the wep key. Would advise changing to WPA though as wep is easily cracked.

Blacksheep is right, cable the computer to the router, type in the router's IP address and look in the wireless settings.

Does the xbox use WPA? I find most peripherals don't use WPA so are rendered useless unless I use WEP - DS and Nabaztag for example.

Um, well im using the laptop now, wireless, i just need to know where abouts the key is, the only place i see it is in network connections, but its just **************, so i cant see it. The computer is wired to the router, but where should i be lookin for it? (can u tell im new to this? lol) I know some of them have the wep key printed on the bottom of the router, but mine hasnt.

Depends on the make of router. If you login your have all the settings, you can turn wireless on, off etc.

Your be able to change or disable the password key from here also.

If you didn't change the default password (and you should have!) search for your router model on this page:

As above, just type the ip address of the router in a browser window.

It's a netgear so the username should be admin and the password should be password. IP address should be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
