Eurogamer have it as April 27th too. So there might be something in it.

I think it'll be Q3 at the latest. Microsoft will not want the Halo 3 release to be too close to the GTA4 release IMO.

Being a major halo freak and keeping up will all halo 3 news - I'd say no chance too.

It will be the beta come march\april and then halo 3 will arrive before christmas this year in much the same way that Gears was pimped last christmas.

Why have a spring beta program if you are going to release in april. Can't see it happening at all. They need it for christmas.

Its definately not gonna be out in March/April as the beta would be pointless and there is a lot of hype about it with getting entry through different means like purchasing crackdown and playing several hours of h2 between feb 1 & 3rd.

If I had paid a thousand pounds for Halo 2 I still would have got my moneys worth as I have played it far more than any other game i have ever owned. So i dont mind buying another game which i will probably not even play just to get the beta.

For the amount i played halo 2 (read 5500+ online games, i was a level 29 team snipes, 30+ on team slayer before i stopped playing it seriously) i would have also paid through the roof for it, but this is just the beta, yes i'll get loads of play from it, yes i'll probably play it more than most fulll priced games *however* I feel as if microsoft are blackmailing me into buying a game just so that i can play the beta which is where i have a problem.

They have a marketplace so why can't i buy it on there? They are going stick it on a game because they want another "million selling+" game from a finanial\marketing persepective.

You dont have to play the beta though, just wait for the real game but if you love the game you will have to have the beta and if that means buying another game then so be it. Its the same as wanting to have a console on release day and paying through the nose for it.

I was having the same conversation with my brother last night, gist is if you want halo 3 (even in beta form with 2-3 levels) 8 months early then 40 quid for 8 months play can't really be passed up.

I'd argue that i hate the way microsoft are doing it, but an expensive beta is better than no beta at all ultimately.

They couldnt charge directly for a beta though plus the feedback given from the beta will make the final game better. You can get a free trial if you play for 3 hrs between the first and 3rd of feb then sign up at a website or win a code at one of the competitions being ran.

Yes i'd go with that, gears came out 17th November (earlier in the states) so halo 3 coming out around then sounds spot on me.
