Default Acessing internet via wireless connection

Long story short, I had a problem with the laptop and had to reinstall windows (xp) however normally I click the little computer lpic in the bottom right cornewr and click "view all wireless networks" and connect to mine (it was set as default so I didnt have to do this every time just the first time I used it) but the "little computer pic" isn't there so I have no way of getting the "view wireless networks" bit.

    Any ideas?

There isn't a wireless network, just one called "1394 connection - Enabled - 1394 Net Adapter?

    hit show all network connections...

does your card require drivers perhaps?

do you know what kind of wireless card you have?

I am showing all, that is the only one. It isn't my laptop, its my partners so dont know if it requires drivers or not?

No idea what kind of wireless card I have, presumably I can find out?

what make/model of system do you have?

You can right click on my computer - click manage, now select device manager from the left hand drop down menu and look for unknown devices with a yellow ? beside them.

If you have any - then you need drivers.

I work for a massive pc making company that sells cheap laptops - if you have one of ours then I can tell you what driver is required.

    Cheers!

what chubblies and sniper said but do it on a different pc and copy them across via memstick or cd because you've got no network card installed.

    Start with this one:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport..._I22389-106952

Then plug a cable in and go to windows update and it should find a few for you.

why dont you check yer device manager and check what fucking model you have?

jesus you want somone to download and install it for you too? use some initiative.. your not thick, your just being lazy.

or if you simply cant decide, try the hp wireless assistant.. and see what it says.

    Yeah, if you could mate

LOL sorry mate, I don't really know what I am looking at.

I tried the hp wireless assistant, burnt that onto CD and installed on lappy but when nothing seemed to happen.

I will get the ethernet driver as stated above then go from there, hopefully I won't be asking anymore questions.
