    Default Back-up laptop

My laptop seems to be on its way out so I hve to send it back to the manufacturer for repair. They have told me that the machine may well be replaced with a new one, 'so back up all material'. What is the best way to back-up all data, programs, etc. and simply transfer onto a new machine?

    cheers

Programs etc will need to be installed from the 'original' source, CD, etc...

I would just copy anything you want to keep (mp3, pictures, porn) onto a DVD/CD and then simply copy to the new machine.
