Default Glastonbury 2007 - pre sales registration required for tickets.

This is great news, should make sure the touts don't get loads of tickets like in the past. Any DFers planning on going?

    Spoiler:
The next Festival will take place, subject to licence, in June 2007 from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th.

What are the changes to ticket sales procedure in 2007?

As part of Glastonbury Festivals continuing campaign to combat touting, pre sales registration is being introduced this year. Everyone wanting to buy a ticket for the 2007 Festival will first have to register. This will mean supplying your contact details and a passport standard photo. Each ticket sold will feature the photograph of the person in whose name it is registered and will be non-exchangeable.

“It’s a much fairer system,” says Michael Eavis. “It means unscrupulous people won’t be able to sell their tickets on for a profit. The people who buy the tickets on 1 April will be the people who are actually coming to the festival.”

You will need to register between February 1st and 28th, 2007. You will be able to register both ‘on-line’ and by post. There will be no charge for ‘on-line’ registration but postal applications will need to be accompanied by 2 First Class stamps to cover postage and processing. Forms will be available for download from the registration site which will go live on February 1st, as will the ‘on-line’ registration site. Forms will also be available from February 1st from all Millets stores; Millets will donate 10p for each form issued to WaterAid, one of our Worthwhile Causes.

Information about how to access the registration site, together with full details of how tickets will be sold and their cost, will be announced on this site during January.

(Please note that no information collected by registration will be offered for sale or use by any third party organisation. Unsuccessful ticket applicants will have their data destroyed and all ticket holders’ registration details and photos will be destroyed within one month of the event.)

This should be done at all big/popular events, I hate missing out and then see dickheads selling them for crazy prices on flea bay.

This seems like a good idea, will hopefully make tickets a bit easier to get since people wont be able to buy them for the sole reason to sell them on.

Im thinking of going this year as my final exertion before i retire to pipe and slipper-dom.
Hopefully it wont piss it down and the line up will be better then 2004, scissor sisters in the dance tent..fook off!

mite not shave or wash from now on so i fit in better.

I don't think many tickets were sold on in 2005 when they introduced the photo ID thing - that seemed to work well enough. This just kinda seals any holes. I think its a good idea.

I think it will also put off people who aren't THAT bothered about going but would normally try on 1st April to get lucky and get tickets.

My holidays have already been booked off for it too. Glastonbury and Bennicasim are my hols this year. Whoo hoo.
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

Fucking right, The Chemical Brothers are 'rumoured' for this year, hope they do a live set and not just a DJ set.

Also The Who are 'rumoured' to be playing.

Better get my class A order in sharp.

Went to reading for the first time in about 10 years last year. Didn't like the crowd at all, full of bloody kids. The good thing about glasto is that it's not near a big town, so it's bit more difficult to get too than Reading, so you don't get as many annoying 15 year old emo kids.

Jesus christ, I can see how there could be a lot of problems with the admin! Also I would imagine ticket prices being raised to afford all the admin work.

Still a very good idea so lets just hope queues aren't too long and tickets all get out ok.

I was going but I think it will have to be V again due to convenience

thats what i heard from all the glasto regulars that where there last year, and also the fact that it won best gig of the year award for the last couple of years.
so whats the difference apart from glasto being held on the worst possible ground

Glasto has much more than just music,

It has thing like the circus tent, walk on performers in the circus fields, comedy tents, green fields.

It caters for lots of different people.

i prefer glastonbury becasue they never really get the biggest bands, bands such as oasis seem to attract some very singleminded fans and thats why glasto has such a great atmosphere i think, everyone is there just to enjoy music, not a perticular band.

The range of different styles seems far more varied at glasto, T in the park may have won a few awards but that doesnt really mean alot, its down to your own personal experiences. Everyone should goto glastonbury atleast once in their life.

Yeah there was a hell of a lot of emo kids, but if you camp in the right spots then it's mostly rock/indy students and older. Being near a town is a good thing. A fry up an clean toilets every morning, plus cash points (although huge queues) and shops.

I do want to go to Glastonbury, but it depends what bands go & if I can afford it.

I am very pleased with this. I hope it will make things easier for the genuine Glasto Goer. I missed the last one but managed to get the one before that. SO a now after having an unwanted three year break i hope this year will be mine once again.

    Cheers.....Q
