    Help CCTV help

I have a CCtv camera one of the type that is mounted in a dome, it rotates and pans im not sure about zooming in , my question is this would it be possible to set this up so i could connect it to my PC and use it as a security cam . The connector that is on the underside looks as though it has a male and female connection with about 11 connections on each , it says on the label its made by Pelco. There is also a connection for an RJ45 cable . I f anyone could shed any light it would be appreciated , its been sitting in my cupboard for months now and i either use or chuck it.

ps hope ive posted this question in right place

You need to buy a PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) card for your PC (they are pretty pricey) try here first to get some model versions and then look on ebay for em !!

    you need a 485 - 232 convertor card

and then some software that will talk to it...

Hey Swiss T thanks for the responce i found one of these cards for about $40 which aint too bad a price what about cables for connecting it all up . Does this card slot into a PCI slot on the mobo or how does it connect. Is it something someone without a lot of electronics knowledge could do or should i just give it away it looks like an expensive bit of kit , I just want to play with it really not a serious need for security cam

maybe not worth the outlay then to be honest as you will need a dvr card as well for your PC. these normally have an output to connect to a PTZ card.

A dvr card costs next to nothing on ebay.
