I actually tried to take a completely different pic for the compo last nite, one of M42 (the nebula, not the motorway ) but didnt come out too well, so for the time being this is my entry. I've got a 500mm mirror lens coming this week so will try another one if i get the time (and clear skies) before i go on holiday.

An easy enough one to guess I know.

Brilliant. Watt the f*ck.
James Watt, developed the newcomen's steam engine into the steam engine as we know it as now. All to do with heat efficiency and condensing steam I think.

Have you read the book by John Gribbin "a History of Science"? Absolutely brilliant book, covers in great depth the lives and works of scientists from 1500 such as watt, Darwin, Bacon, Halley etc, etc.
