    humm... everyones cracking them out

still dubious over the upgradability of this thing...the method is uses to patch the drive on boot doesn't seem to offer everything we need in a chip. Perhaps it'll have additional points and a large flash for future improvments which are yet to be refined/developed?
    I'm new to this

im doubtful of this too as it claims to boot multiregion wii games, the main snag with the other 2 on the market.

The first upgradeable Wii modchip has been announced - the WiiKey. The WiiKey has been produced by the team that brought us the xenoGC. It is another quick solder solution that fixes to the DVD drive PCB and can be upgraded via updates placed on discs. It allows for play back of NTSC-U and NTSC-J titles on a NTSC Wii console, but is not truly region-free. The rest of the specs are similar to that of the Wiinja and CycloWiz.

umm glad ive got my wiinja coming!!!
    Bitches aint shit!!

i think it may not be classed as truely region free as NTSC consoles may not be able to display a PAL image when booting a PAL game, this would mean theres a chance that us lucky PAL users would have the best option since our machine has the ability to run in NTSC and PAL.

So does the Wiinja, you only need a swap for GC imports!

its seems clear these chips are coming thick and fast for a reason.

    I'm gonna wait 2 months, I think in that time we'll have duo's a-plenty

tbh whats the big deal. if you really want to play backups right now pay the money for the chip. its how they make money. otherwise wait for them to get more reliable and cheaper like every other system modchip.

i disagree entirelt. these are pic chip mods. they cost $2 to make - selling them for $45 is COMPLETELY out of order

Its different when you have the likes of Xecuter mods that cost $15 - $20 to manufacture due to the high build costs.

yep for a pic chip its expensive but when you compare it to what was on offer when the ps2 was first able to play backups...

pic chip and action reply for approx £75 from bowlers ..... now that was a rip off or was it??? and you still had to swap to play the bloody things....

at least with this pic for the wii there is no swap....

in reality they are only doing what the team that brought the first swap mod on a pic for the ps2... making as much money as possible because they know people will pay it....

good luck to them, its all been done before.....

Has anybody received and tested a Wiikey?

I read an article (can't remember where the hell it was althoguh looking for it again!) that the wiikey is compatible with DMS/D2A and D2B chips. Want confirmation of this.

that was actually MY pic chip on sale at bowlers (it was the NEO chip) - they were being sold for £15 + the cost of actioan replay (£25 if i remember rightly) + install cost

    not exactley a rip off

i didnt see anyone at all selling for £75 - especially without an install

Any ideas if the current wiikeys that are out can be upgraded to support the above features, or was there a hardware upgrade (sounds more likely)?
