    Default Independent Photo Comp [21/2/07]

This should probably go in the "in it to win it" section, but I thought it had more relevance here.

In today's Independent there are doing a photo comp. There doesn't seem to be any rules on what the photo can be, but looking through the article it looks to be more people/news orientated rather than landscapes etc.

Send your entry (one per person) to comps@independent.co.uk enclosing your name and address. Files larger than 2MB will NOT be accepted.

entries to be received by Weds 21st Feb, winners notified by Weds 14th March.

    Prizes:

1st - Olympus E-400 DSLR and a photo shoot for the Independent.
    2nd and 3rd - Olympus E-400 DSLR
10 runners up - The book of Digital Photography (by Ilex)

Might be worth a go and even Slarti can enter this one!

Good luck Belial, really like your work! Shame you live miles away, would definitely get my business. Do you do your own work? such as family portraits?

Thanks very much for the compliment Gavin, I live miles away from everybody )

Photography's still a hobby, so never done any pics for anyone else before. Got some of the flash units that Mr O got the other week (thanks again Mr O), so had some fun last nite with some proper lighting and the kids,

I need to get myself some white backdrops and stuff next so the wife can see the reason why i spend my spare cash on photography gear and take some proper ones of them

Just paid £1000 for 2 pictures containing 5 10x8 pictures.

The photographer also did our wedding photo's, so we got a voucher which we used for these pics (daughters first birthday pictures).

I would say that your photo's rival most of his (his business is quite big so he doesn't do all his own work)

£1000 for 2 images? Crikey and i thought I charged too much for my coding work p

I'm sure you could ask on here, slarti and Mr O for example i'm sure would be more than up to the job of taking photo's for that kind of cash and you'd prob end up with a lot more than 2 for your money!

Do you stull have the paper?? Might be nice to see a scan of the article / entry peice...

Could be well worth a dabble seeing as it's free... Anyone entered yet???

On the subject of paid images, I had a nosey around a wedding fair in MK at the weekend.. Nearly fell over when I asked about some of the rates.. Some of the photographers were very good others were poor very poor and still charging over £2000 for a days work with no more than 40 ish images coming back to you... I think a re-think on my no wedding photography could be in order here...

"Just paid £1000 for 2 pictures containing 5 10x8 pictures."

its more than 2 pictures, im presuming that means 2 frames, each containing 5 8x10" inamges, which must be pretty big if so, still 2k is a lot of cash even for that.
