    Default The PK Ripper

    Someone the Mrs works with is getting his lad a PK Ripper and claimed it was brand new. Hmmm I thought they have been out of production for ages so thought I would have a search. Lo and behold I came across the home of SE Racing.

    The Landing Gear forks look slightly thinner than the old days as well but still seem to follow the same patterns.

    Here is the original compared to the new one. Don't know why they have called it the PK Ripper when Perry Kramer would probably be appalled at the bastardisation of the original concept.

    The original in all its glory.

    There is a brand new 83 one still in the box, frame only without forks, and bidding is up to 620 quid already and still hasn't hit its reserve. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SE-Racing-PK-R...QQcmdZViewItem

    ok two things;

    1) the chrome original frame is lush, much better than cj's old pics. I never got into the plastic forks, I think they look like utter shite. Give me metal spokes anyday. I'd like to see that frame on a new setup - that'd be lush.

    2) what's wrong with the other bike? is it just that it ripped the name? I don't like they colours, they look ghey but I do like the shape, features & the chain behind the frame - nice effect.

    edit: wow, ok third point validity added - £600@ for a chrome frame - hey, it aint THAT nice. you could go custom for that much :-o
    I'm new to this :huh:

    The forks aren't plastic but I assume you mean wheels. Yeah spokes are lighter.

    I don't like the way they still call it the Ripper when really it is just a totally new frame that doesn't even use the original geometry. It is just a way of currying favour with t he old fuckers.

    The old Ripper was ball burnished aluminium and wsa fucking dear even back then but these days they are reaching barmy prices.

    pk ripper was THE dream bike. only one posh bastard had one round our way when i was a kid. i had to do with the old raleigh super burner which i picked all the gold laquer off and it bacame the newer chrome burner albeit without the newer oval frame. i made up for this shortcoming with a layback stem, some mx finger brakes, mushroom 3 grips, and some skyway tuff 2`s. this thread has brought a reminiscing tear to my eye. fuck it, i am off to watch bmx bandits

    Oi, I was well happy when a mate gave me a burner frame. Probably was the basis for the best bike I ever had.

    I managed 4 on a mates bike, mate on crossbar, mate on handlebar with feet on trick nuts, one guy on the back trick nuts, and me pedalling. Fook me, that was tiring.
