    Help Network Identifying Software

Is there any piece of software that could tell me who exactly is on my wireless network as I often have to temporarily disable my Wep Encryption and MAC Address Filtering because I have a netgear media player in my kitchen all built in to the wall etc etc and when I have parties/people over for a drink then I like to have the music on and it just will not work with WEP Encryption I have tried every trick in the book with it but it wont get on the network, so any way some bugger keeps getting on my open network and hogging my bandwidth prolly downloading binaries etc etc. Sometimes if I have a drunken session I forget to enable the WEP again until the next day, once I woke up checked the router log and some git had downloaded 16GB !!!
I know i can see ip addresses and MAC addresses through my router but I want to be able to connect back to them and tell them im watching and piss off
    Is this doable?
    Cheers

just set up your mac list for the devices in yer house.

depends if they have messenger disabled but you can send them a message over the network with net send command. Unless you can secure your network though you're not going to be able to dissuade whoever it is. A mac list should help but its easy to spoof a mac address.

Its just a firmware thing with the Netgear MP101 Media player and they seem to have washed their hands of all support for it now at Netgear anyway, seriously though its not a massive issue as lie I say I rarely do it but I would have just liked to fuck around with the culprits heads a little thats all. Even WEP Encryption is easy to get around too MAC Filtering is the most secure in MY opinion. Nevermind I just thought there may be some fun software I could use to see them.

could always check if hes sharing anything on his network next time he connects..

    shared files, hardware etc...

ive used a free app called look@lan in the past to view all the connected network components and services running.. i quite like it, dunno how well itll do what you want tho.

Cheers mate I just tried that now its pretty good, I like the trapping of all new IP registered on a network I can have it email my phone when it happens so I get a text alert when someone has jumped on my network then I can actually physically walk out on the street and find the spotty little ginger tw@t in his Nova SR on his Packard Bell Lappy and shove it up his arse
