twirl a stick round until you get a vortex, pull it out and take a snap?? then invert the pic?

Amazing shots, im also interested in how it was done, i cant think how it could be shot through the side of a glass or something so clearly hmm a fish tank maybe? hmm lol great work though

lol, sorry to keep you all waiting.

Vortex was created in a pint glass full of water with an aerolatte (I knew it would come in handy for something eventually).

First one is a frame similar to the second, except with the layer duplicated and flipped vertically, then blended with a layer mask. Both needed some cloning in the blue background area to get rid of imperfections in the glass.

Both were lit from the side with the flash off camera.

Superb those slarti, really nice indeed, love the detail and colour on them, spot-on. Will have to have a look at what on earth this aerolatte stuff is now, bet you could have some fun with some food colouring in there too spinning around the vortex.
