Ronaldinho is the greatest of all time......?

It's a repeated conversation around the world; Who's the greatest ever footballer?
Usually it comes down to the same two names. Pele vs. Maradonna.
Pele with over one thousand goals in over one thousand games; Maradonna with the sublime left-footed skills that virtually single-handedly won the World Cup in 1986.
It may be too early into his career to suggest but I'd like to throw in the proposition that Ronaldhino is now up there with them.

From a skills perspective he's untouchable in today's arena. But is that enough to be considered alongside Pele and Maradonna?
I'd like to see a quick show of hands.

For me Maradona is head and shoulders above anyone. No other player has had the same influence he has had on the teams he's played in. Specifically the 1986 Argentinian world cup winning side and the Napoli side of 1986-1990.

For pure talent, he's the greatest. And Ronaldinho isn't fit to suck his cock.

Ronaldinho's form this year has been patchy to say the least and his world cup performances were very underwhelming. He's probably at the moment not even the most important player at Barca and there have been noises regarding his being shipped out to raise money for a Ronaldo bid.

Maradona was something else. A fucking freak of nature. I doubt we'll ever see anything nearly as good as him ever again.

I've never really understood the whole Pele thing to be honest. What I've seen from older footage has been quite impressive but I've not wet my pants over it. He just looked like a very important part of what were two incredibly great and entertaining teams. I suppose you may have had to have been there.

I think when you think about the greatest player, you have to think about the era they were playing in. With todays game, and all the protection players get, would Ronaldinho be able to cut it in Maradona's or Pele's era? I personally think not

Maradona is on a different level to any footballer . He could make an Average team Great just with him in it!
What goes against Pele is that he never came to Europe but from what ive read and seen , Pele was just as good as Maradona. Touch Unbelieveable and both were innovators.

But for a Footballing brain, leadership, organisation, passing, etc Beckenbauer would be in there but its usually attacking players who get reconised the most!

Gasp, sorry but I have to ask - how old are you? I don't want to be disparaging but surely anyone who's actually old enough to have seen even the last two world cups knows that Ronaldinho really isn't that good. A couple of years ago he may have been the best player in the World in that year, but last year he was poor during Barca's CL cup run and poor during Brazil's WC run. One could perhaps make an argument for Ronaldo (fat not Chris) being included, as noone has scored more goals in World Cup finals, but I doubt many people would even include him.

No, the only player in the current generation who deserves to even be mentioned in the same breath as Pele and Maradonna is Zidane. Maradonna and Pele stand head and shoulders above, with Cruyff, Best and Beckenbauer forming the second tier of greats - probably with Puskas too, but I honestly cannot say on that one. Ronaldinho will IMO never even make the 2nd tier of greats, he will be forgotten very quickly when he quits the game.
