    Default Be Online and Torrents

Recently signed up for Be internets 24mb service and i have to say that im extremely happy with their service.

When im grabbing stuff off newsgroups it comes down as quick as id expect it to.

When i first got the service i was also downloading with torrents ridicously quick and i was only doing it off peak so as not to take the piss too much............ Since yesterday ive been trying to get a few things and everytime i load one up in utorrent it stays red and wont go green at all........................... Just wondered if anyone else was having similar problems or know if their capping at all now?

Does utorrent not give a reason why its red? With Azureus I can always see why a torrent isnt downloading. Just recently a certain site I used (past tense!) wanted me to upgrade my Azureus to the latest version before I could continue the downloads. For some reason I can't upgrade to the latest version, so I can no longer grab any torrents from them.

um.. hover your mouse over the status, or double click on that torrent and see what status message is present.

does this happen with any torrent or a specific one? possible the torrents too old, no longer seeded, or has a dead tracker.

Well I can assure you TorrentLeech doesn't suck. I've been using it for best part of 2 years now and I get the fastest and most reliable downloads from there. I usually get 300-400k from there.

Whats your username at TL? Let me know and I can pop a user to one of the friendly admin there and see if there is an issue.

all ratio based torrent sites suck m8...

i average over 600k on torrents from public trackers.. you just have to be on them as soon as they are released.. rss feeds beat private ratio based sites hands down

Yeah, but the trouble with public trackers is knowing what you are getting. With TL I've always known the quality of the release and all the information I've wanted to know before I downloaded it, yet when I've used public trackers I can end up with some right shite.

However, if you have a better method I'm always open to investigation ..... can you let me know what it is you do? I've not done anything with RSS, or where to get the release info .

I have been using torrentleech for a few years now they are fine IMO, in fact I downloaded episodes 1-6 of "Heroes" from there last week and they wouldnt start for me unless I force started them.

They still came in @300-400kb then.

However my ratio is about 0.9 and I have dl about 230GB.

If your ratio is low tho mate then they can be a "bunch of cunts" and ban you before you have a chance to complain!

    @thefincher

I checked your profile on TL you have a ratio of 0.29 and have DL 29GB.

I also see youve been warned, I think they will throttle you until you get your ratio up to 0.6.

The only other way is to contribute then they dont give a monkeys about your ratio.

why would you choose to spend ages uploading to keep a ratio when theres absolutely no reason to?

and dont spout shit about having a server in the states to do it for you fusen.. no one cares.. whos gonna pay for a server just to dl some torrents apart from numpties like you how much does that set you back?

not only do you download widely available stuff from ratio sites, you pay a server co in order to upload shit for you?? kinda negates the whole point of free torrents, no?

ratio sites are only as good as the people registered and uploading... everything makes it into the public domain eventually. I used to be registered on ratio sites like uknova and a few porn sites... then i realised while i was spending 2 weeks uploading some shit at 15k to some other numpty, i could dl exactly the same stuff from various other places without the burden of some ratio number.

especially as it takes less and less time to download shit, but longer and longer to upload... its just not worth doing any more.
