    Default Juicers?

To entertain myself while DF was down I purchased the following juicer.

To put it bluntly, it was complete shit! It couldn't handle even the most basic recipes in the supplied book. Chucking juice and pulp out of all exits.

Anyone know of a decent juicer? I have a blender/smoothie maker but I wanted a good masticating one.

I got this one a couple of weeks ago after seeing the advert on one of sky's shopping TV channels :

    http://www.jmldirect.com/product.php?cid=5&pid=180

    Its fukin shit !

Messy as fuk and they boast about the top being big enough to put in whole fruit without cutting it up like its competitors . They put in whole apples in the advert but I can honestly say now you cant fit a normal size apple in without cutting it up. If I wasnt so idle Id have used the 30 day money back guarrantee .

I was fooled into buying this "Aston Martin of juicers" for over £100 about 3 years ago.

The thing with juciers that I overlooked is that you have to peel the fruit first, by which time you might as well eat it whole. Also you cannot make loads of juice in advance as it separates within an hour or so, although I guess you could shake it up when you wanted to drink it.

The last juice I made was a bizarre green froth from some honeydew melons. The juicer has sat in it's box ever since. If anyone wants to make me an offer on it?

    cheers CJ.

Those of you who have juicers, how much do you use them? Are they an expensive gadget?

I understand you get what you pay for, but £400 is a lot to shell out for something I'm not sure i'll use.

It's one of those kitchen gadgets that most people get, use for a couple of weeks then stick at the back of a cupboard for the next 10 years. So I wouldn't go out and spend a fortune on one until you know it's going to get regular use, preferrably daily use.

I've got a Tribest Personal Blender from the same people who make the Greenstar juicers, it's wasn't too expensive and it gets used everyday and has been worth every penny.

Would I spend £400 on a juicer? Probably not, I think if you're going to juice something you may as well turn it into a smoothie using a decent quality blender, that way you don't dicard the pulp, which will usually be very rich in nutrient value as well as soluble fibre.

I brought this juicer last year, it makes good lemon and grapefruit juice and that's about it :D .... it's pretty easy to clean afterwards but it can be messy!
