    Default Bulgaria or Cape Town...

    Hi,
Me and the GF (both 20) are hoping to go away in the summer... We have two places on our minds - Bulgaria or Cape Town. We're going Ibiza for a few nights at the end of August, so we're not too bothered about it being too clubby etc however it would be good to have somewhere to go at nights! Want it to be interesting with plenty to do in the day as well of course! Has anyone been to either? I've heard ok reviews about Bulgaria, but not about Cape Town.

    All suggestions/help appreciated!

    [EDIT]

Also, thinking of Cuba - staying here: http://www.solmelia.com/solNew/hotel...digoHotel=5880

A lot of my famiily live in Cape Town so it would get my vote. A few folk I know have been to Bulgaria and said it is nothing out of the ordinary. Cape Town has Table Mountain and the joys of Africa such as big game and tons of stuff to do. I have another mate who has done Cuba and said it was a great place to visit but you soon get bored once you have done the interesting things.

Doesn't SA have huge issues with gun crime at the moment, or is that just located in and around Jo'burg?

hmmm.... were speaking to the travel agents yesterday and he said be careful with Cuba in the summer because it's hurricane season around the CB and although Cuba doesn't tend to get hit, you can get the tail-end of one...
Also what kind of weather can you expect from Cape Town as it's the SA winter during our summer of course...

when you say capetown nightlife is great, what we talking here - bars/clubs or "entertainment" places?

South Africa as always had a reputation of gun / road side crimes. I went there 2 years ago and hired a car. Drove all over from Durban to Joburg and loved every minute of it.

It's much the same as anywhere nowadays. Keep your wits about you and you should be ok.

    South Africa gets my vote

Attention Re: Bulgaria or Cape Town...

    Hey

It's like asking about Chalk and Cheese.

Like has been posted above, Bulgaria will be great in several years, but having been to both and an extended stay in South Africa, I would definately recommend Cape Town to you.

Their Rainy season is the summer months and daytime Temps. will be in the mid 60's, but it will still be a great holiday. Even though it's their rainy season, it never seemed any more rainy than Manchester in June/July.

Like anywhere else, don't be an obvious 'rich' tourist and stay 'street' wise.

Never had any problems anywhere I have travelled to and I have been to some very 'scary' places in my time.

    Regards
