    Default Mice Problem! :(

Hi all, years ago we had some mice come up the cavity wall joined to our neighbours, into the kitchen. Mum got some rat poison, worked nicely.

This time, they've got clever. First time poison was laid out, one tray seemed like it had been slightly touched, then they never bothered again.

I even suggested mixing some nuts in with the poison as they seem to like nuts, but no joy.

Anyone know any good ways that don't involve handing hundreds over to a company?

Also as we live in a terrace with cavity walls, any ideas on reducing chances of them coming back?

I am not 100% sure if this is true, but birds die when fed raw rice. Why shouldn't mice? Also they might get a few houses down and die there instead of stinking out your place.

Or you could try mousetraps or get a cat lol

They sell them glue traps in b&q have also seen them in the local ironmongers.
dont buy the cheap 1s you see on the market stalls tho they wont even catch a fly with the shitty glue they got on them.

get that expanding filler foam and fill any hole you see - even if it seems far too small as they get through anything. If you're using traps I've always found peanut butter good as its sticky and something they can't just take off - have to stay on the trap and lick at so more likely to get caught.

Its not true about birds... unfortunately... id quite like to see that lol

My old man gets alot of mice in the shed at my parents place. He tends to start them off on a good meal of poison, then the mouse traps get going. Hes got some disposable ones which get narrower towards one end with opposing barbs so the mouse cant escape. They never seem to learn, usually fills two of those traps per day and after a while, they are gone.

You need to make sure that all food if stored well out of their reach and all rubbish kept in bins, I don't expect that you leave food or scraps out but they must be there for a reason. A bit of prevention, give them less reason to be in your place and they'll go some where else.

    agree totally...

I use a bit of chocky digestive biccy on traps then turn out the lights and leave the kitchen door open so I can hear the traps snap shut then run in and beat the wounded mouse to death with a claw hammer

    bit messy but fucking fun..

or you could just buy a shitload of pythons and set them free down the mouse holes
Who were you when you thought you where you was?. Whats a matter for can't you want to?

Killing poor defenceless animals, because of your poor hygeine is simply wrong.
If they come into your house looking for food, they will quickly leave,if you dont have crap lying about.
I actually have a phobia about mice/rats but wouldnt want to see any animal killed or maimed simply because we're supposedly top of the food chain.
    Live and let live.
Clean your house, and ye'll no get a mouse.

Only thing you can do is lay down the appropiate traps nad sticky pads, and make sure every crumb is cleaned up after eating and food is disposed off correctly. me for instance wouldent think twice of leaving my empty plate on my desk for two days and see it rot, but in the long run it cannot be good.

with kids and dogs here and the birds who access the loft for the nest they have there every year i'm sure i dont leave food just laying around the house If they just want to feed they could live under the shed at the bottom of the garden where bird food is nearby.
