    Attention Re: cuba

    Hey

The Museum of the Revolution in Havana is not to be missed. Very insightful.

The beach at Veradero is magnificent and of course the drinks are cheap and well measured.....

Rent a scooter for a fun day touring the local area.

Just a small tip, never carry your passport, carry a digital scan/print out of it. The Photo. page and any arrival stamp would suffice. Never hand your passport over as security for anything IE: Car rental, scooter rental, diving equipment. Or if you have the new UK Photo Driving Licence, just carry that.

    Have a great vacation.

Got married in Cuba 2 years ago. Went to havana for 3 days also. There is a quality bar/restaurant in Havana where loads of famous people have been. You can sign the walls in there too.

I can't remember the name of it though!!

Also go and see the show Tropicana (quite expensive) but well worth it.

If i remember the name of the bar i'll post it

i did the exact same trip - but was 1 week havana 1 week varadero

Havana is WELL dodgy so be careful (it IS fntastic tho). You can get some crackin deals on cigars - make sure they have the tax / import stamps (cohibas, monte cristos and romeo juliets are the best)
check out ernest hemingways hangout in the square "La Bodeguita" and have a Mojito there - go upstairs and you will see "stoke on tour" painted on the ceiling in blue - that was me (take a picture of it for me pls - and you are allowed to write on the walls). a cool but cheap hotel is the Habana Libre - but no doubt you are taying at the Nationale (pricey but smart as fook)

varadero is cool - the beaches are awesome and lots of bars but beware the $10 entrance fee and drink all ypu can drink. you get in there and there is 1 little bar and you get served half a can of Cristal beer. i spent a couple of days in jail for knocking out 4 bouncers. they WILL take your passport but you can buy your way out of jail - it aint cheap tho - cost me $1500 which is a fortune to them. oh and get a scooter or jeep - TONS o fun ! and LE is right never give your passport over

If you are ever in any trouble with a local - take two fingers of right hand (index finger and finger next to that - hole them together and out straight (kinda like scouts honour sign but with 2 fingers not 3) and make a stripe signal across your left shoulder - it means local police / security and they will shit themselves cus they are never seen again if they are grabbed by them
remember its a communist country so everyone is on the scam - and the black market is RIFE

i hope you are not flying with CUBANA - worst airline ive ever experienced.i swear there wee chicken crates in the back and the stewardeses all smoked lol

    enjoy your trip !
