My PC is ready for the knackers yard. At least half the time I turn it on, it freezes up totally and I have to spend the next 10 mins trying to get it to boot back up again. Ive reformatted numerous times ,fitted a new hard drive and increased memory from 512mb to 1 gb, but the problems have happened before and after the upgrade. Ive taken it to bits and blown where I can blow to clear the 6 inch of dust away, but still the same. Anyways, I can just about live with that but my current problem is my DVDRW has stopped burning anything.
Its a Pioneer DVR-105, and usin Nero I either get "I/O error" or just that the burn process has failed. Normal "dragging, dropping and burning" in Windows will not work either. Ive tried different versions of Nero, but it doesnt seem to do anything at all. Ive searched from some drivers, but can only find firmware upgrades that never work.
Ive reformatted and reinstalled everything about 5 times (prior to getting a new hdd, though this hasnt fixed anything)
Is there anything I can do, or do I have to sell my worldly belongings to buy a new pc? I would buy a cheap exertnal dvdrw if I could fix the first problem and be sure it would work, but I have no confidence that it wont just either shut down totally, or blow up and set the house on fire.
Ta.
