Rumor: Walmart Selling HD-DVD 360 Addon for 130usd?

What? It's already over? Over at Cheapassgamer.com, folks are posting that the Xbox 360 HD DVD player is being marked down at Walmart to US $130 from its retail price of $199.99. What's more, apparently Walmart has cleared out its HD DVD players. Reader superatt sends word that The New York Post reports that HD DVD is being outsold by Blu-ray -- Since the PS3 went on sale, Blu-ray sales have jumped to nearly three times that of HD DVD.

bluray is already leading by 2:1, the competition is over. Ive heard of some stores considering dropping the sale of HDDVD already. This is ofcourse only in america, but its unlikely we will be any differnt, especially after this friday...

By $ony putting a BDROM in PS3s its put more players around the world than standalones could have hoped to achieve. M$ needs to make a 360 with a built in HDDVD player for the stakes to change now.

I myself have a standalone Toshiba HD-A1 that cost me over �400 and I have a 360 so I'll be well narced if Blugay has one.

Well sony is well known for it's shite compatability with DVDs etc. Their standalones are not handset hackable and different versions of PS2s have lots of problems with copies and foreign regions.

Problem is not many actually care about this

I think your clutching at straws BoB, Id get that HD DVD player on ebay asap!

I think sony's trojan horse has worked, even tho the initial batch of BD sales may only be from vouchers, theres 2 million people already out there with PS3s and they are bound to buy the odd movie, that number will probably be tripled by the end of the year.
