    PS3 New PS3 owner

My gf just bought one of these home out of the blue, which was a nice suprise.
Go to set it up and realise I have to buy a cable to have it in HD....ffs!

Hence to stay its still in the box, why don`t they just include the bloody things - has she bought a core pack or something?

It has CoD3 with it (which I have on 360) - what are the best games worth getting?

Whats the online side of things like - can you browse round stuff, like Live?
Anything worth downloading? Is it free?

I`ve had a 360 and never been interested in getting a PS3 so not kept up with it really.

    Cheers!

Yeah thats what it is, black 60Gb version, 1 pad with Call of Duty 3.
Ah well, don`t think I`ll even bother playing it til I can afford to get a HDMI cable.

It`s very shiny and a lot bigger than I expected - bigger and heavier than 360 easily!

Hi mate, the online service "Playstation Store" is pretty good imo. Lots of demos that you can download for free (grab GT:HD and Motorstorm) and some full games that can be a few quid each as well as trailers to upcoming games and movies etc. Also, the online gaming is free and although I don't think it's up there with Xbox Live just yet it will be great in the future I'm sure.

First off, your GF must be a legend!! Buying a PS3 out of the blue! secondly, I would ruturn CoD3 (if you already have it on 360), and get Resistance, also heard motorstorm is good!

I would get Resistance, Motorstorm, Formula One Championship Edition and Virtua Fighter 5. For downloadable titles I would go with Tekken DR, Lemmings and Blast Factor as well as the free GTHD Concept.

I would not of thought you need to spend £80 on a cable for 1080p, my Sky HD cable seems to do the job just fine.
Motorstorm is the nuts and I am enjoying Virtua Tennis atm.

The first time you see GT HD in all it's glory on a large screen HDTV it's a very special moment. The actual game is pretty pants in my opinion but it sets the scene for what we can look forward to in the near future.

..because she is banging someone else, and she wants you to spend more time infront of the telly? That whore, you should slap her just in case

Well, on a serious note, I bought a PS3 Sony HDMI cable for £22, perfect image and sound on my LG 42" LCD, I can't see how with that set-up it could look any better.
