HELP ! Think I've been conned

hi all
recently bought a nokia n73 on ebay for 135 but foulishy paid by cheque
the seller had good rating (no negative) and high 20's so thought it would be ok
but the cheque has long since cleared and is over a week since they say it was posted
so have a fear I've been shafted :-( have emailed them but had no replies.

does any1 have any advice as to my best course of action
as �135 is a lot to lose

Was it send recorded/signed for/insured? Did you request any of these options?

Well heres an outline of the facts:
Member from late last year
18 feedback 1 of which for a sale
The sale was to a new member with 0 feedback
He can't spell

Not looking good so far mate.

What name was the cheque addressed to? Or what area was the cheque posted to?

if u buy something of someone on ebay using paypal can u not get there address? , cause obv u can get theres cause u need to send the product or item , i wondered if it was the same that u can see there address or request it as u made a transaction with them?>

well you posted a cheque so you have the address of the seller,,give it the required 7 days and then report it to ebay and if its not to far go knock on the door or call the police as its theft at the end of the day and theres proof the moneys been paid as it cleared in the sellers account..

Thats what i was thinking, i would never consider bidding on an item that hasnt got pictures of the actual product.

If you got his address have you tried ukphonebook to see if theres a home number for that address ?

if you paid by cheque shouldnt be a problem inform your bank you have been defrauded and they will contact the bank of the guy who paid the cheque in. i did that to a guy one time and the police turned up on his doorstep

You can get the sellers contact details by going to http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/tp/ques...ber-phone.html It will show their phone number (although there's nothing stopping them putting in a false number). If it is a false number see http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policie...ity-false.html

Hi all thanks for the helpful info
Still no phone or contact from seller have requested info as suggested
I have their home address tho I'm in n.ireland anf they are england so i wont be over to their door.
I do c they have been on buying more stuff on ebay since I emailed them so they are online just not answering their mails.
I didnt look at the only thing they sold b4 was but see its a mobile and as said bought by someone with a 1 rating which they got from her. so looks like a account and sale they set up just to look more legit or so my suspicious mind thinks anyway.
