If using MS Outlook, please try the following:
1) Open outlook
2) Go to Tools/Email Accounts
3) Select the Account with the trouble and click Change
4) Click on More Settings
5) Click on Outgoing Server Tab
6) Click "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) requires authentication" and make sure "Use same settings as incoming mail server" is selected
7) Click on "Advanced Tab"
8) Set outgoing Port (SMTP) to 26 (if your hosting account is Linux) or 587 if your hosting account is Windows.
9) Click Ok and then Test Account Settings
If it fails on send then repeat starting from 7.
7) Click on Advanced Tab
8) Set outgoing Port (SMTP) to 465
9) Check the box Beside "The server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)".
10 ) Click ok and then Test Account Settings

Thanks I've tried that but doesn't work. It seems to be my shitty Tiscali email account that's giving me problems! I tested the settings in outlook but it says something about not finding the server. Now Tiscali is not my default email account but that shouldn't affect it should it? Also I've just logged on directly to the Tiscali home page and in to my email account with no problems so I can't figure it out! I've attached a screenshot of what it says in outlook if it's any help?

In the outgoing server tab. It where it asks for outgoing server authentication, the only account thats ticked is my default account. The other two tiscali accounts are not ticked! Don't know if this helps?

Still not entirely sure why most ppl are still using PC based programs to collect and send emails.
Get wth the times; and when all goes wrong, blame some fucker else .
I haven't a clue what your on about but what do you recommend?
Try this:
Select the account you are using (if not already selected) and click 'Change...'
Click 'More Settings...'
Select 'Outgoing Server' tab
'My Outgoing server (SMTP) Requires authentication' CHECKED
Instead of checking off the 'log on to incoming mail server before sending mail' check the radio button for "Log on using":
then fill in your username and password
usernames are the full email address (youremail@yourdomain.com)
outlook sometimes get corrupted, try re-installing your email account in outlook and deleting your old account
Eventually got it sorted. Tisacali had messed up. ta for all your help.
