Roma Fans Clash with Cops

Roma fans have been involved in violent battles with police outside Old Trafford.
Missiles were thrown and officers drew their batons to control the thugs.
Up to 100 Greater Manchester Police officers tackled groups of Italian fans outside the Manchester United stadium.
Sky Correspondent Tom Parmenter said: "This was instigated by the fans who have come over from Italy but certainly there were United fans involved."
He said the scenes were "frightening scenes for about 10 minutes".
Witnesses spoke of gangs of hooded fans dressed in black making their way to the front of the ground before the trouble flared.
There had been fears Roma hooligans, known as Ultras, would provoke trouble.
It follows violence in Rome when several United supporters were stabbed on the way to the Olympic Stadium.
Inside the ground, riot police were accused of battering visiting fans.

Roma fans? Looked to be a fair amount of English people in there as well. All the ones in the black hooded tops were English, and a lad i know who is actually at the ground reckons man u fans are throwing missiles. Funny how it always gets portrayed to suit in the press!

This is the first I've heard of this, having only just got back from work, but fucking hell, this is so, so sad. I'd hate to see my own club banned from Europe, and honestly I can't see it happening because of money, but I'd rather see clubs banned than return to the old hooligan days of the late 70's and early 80's.

Shit like this pisses me off. My little lad is showing an avid interest in football and I'm not looking forward to the day he starts asking to go to local matches let alone major league ones... there is always trouble with a local derby here.

'Hooligans' are cnuts who hide behind a great sport to punch other like minded cnuts but it's the innocent bystanders that either get twatted in the crossfire by them, or the cops.

Roma's hardest fans won't even be there and the majority of the 4000 Roma fans will probably be from places like London anyway won't they? Man Utd fans won't get anywhere near them anyway
