Xbox Softmod Help Req'd

Can anyone help me to softmod my xbox?
I have 1 chipped xbox, 1 unchipped xbox, memmory card, game exploits, original splinter cell... everything i need to do the job but I cant FTP to the chipped box to transfer the game saves to the memmory card.
The chipped xbox obtains an IP ok through my router but I cant get my pc to connect to it.
I have tried several FTP clients, ftp through Firefox and IE, even tried from CMD but I just keep getting timeouts.
I'm wondering if the chipped xbox has a different user : pass to log in?
If I post my memmory card to some kind soul, would you drop the gamesave exploit on it so I can at least try FTP'ing to my unchipped xbox before I buy a modchip and get the soldering iron out?

Just a quick thought, have you turned off passive transfers - i had that problem with ws ftp and it all went smooth from thereon in

Check firewall settings mate.

You could also just assign a static IP to the xbox and do it that way, then ping from the pc to see if you can see it.
As long as the xbox is in the right IP range there shouldnt be too much of a problem apart from firewalls.

I have tried with all firewalls turned off..(zone alarm and Netgear router firewall)
I can ping my xbox, but when i try to ftp to it I still get timeout or server busy errors.
Can anyone help?

The passive transfers is an option on Flash FXP, if its turned on (I think if its on?) it causes the FTP transfers to be really slow.

I'll assume you are using evo-x, I think the gateway address has to be configured to be the same as your routers (or connecting PC if you are using a crossed cable) IP address.

From then on you should be able to FTP to it using xbox\xbox as a username and password.

What is your PC IP?
What is the Xbox IP?

It`s usually easier to make the xbox have a static IP on the same range as your router, and set the default gateway to your router IP (usualy .1 or .254 but it`s configurable in the router).

There shouldn`t be any issues with that setup as it`s what I`ve had for donkeys years and its perfect.

You are using the correct cable to connect the xbox to the network aren`t you?

Router ( gateway ) is 192.168.1.1
My pc is 192.168.1.2
Xbox is 192.168.1.3 (through the router)
Xbox is a visable device when I log into my router
Dashboard on chipped box is EvoX and modchip is alladin
Xbox can be pinged 100% from pc
When I ftp from pc to xbox I get timeouts / Server busy.
I'll try ftping to 192.168.1.1 and i'll look at that passive transfer option next time I hook the xbox up ( chipped box is in my lads room atm)

Try using windows to do it, I found it quicker than using an FTP client.

In IE, go to ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.1.3 (using your IP as posted above)
That also assumes you haven`t changed the default password from xbox/xbox - if you have then replace as needed either side of the colon. ie. username : password@...

It should open up like a normal drive would on your PC - browse around and drag and drop or copy/paste and see if that works.

Also just come to mind whilst typing that is to check the evox dashboard options and see if FTP is turned on.

here's another thought aswell if your near warrington bring it round and i'll get hubby lol to softmod it for you FOC he'll even use the l8est installer

Mine didnt work until I changed the DNS to 0.0.0.0 on the xbox and then I think it automatically then assigns it back to 255.255.255.0

This does mean that the xbox cannot connect to the internet directly tho but means that you can ftp it from other machines on the network.

I use smart ftp with default setting and then username xbox password xbox but I am connecting directly to my pc with a crossover cable so maybe the router is somehow blocking this connection...

Also try rebooting the router while the xbox is on and then try rebooting the xbox while the router is on. If the xbox doesn't connect on boot then it will not try to reconnect until it is rebooted I find.
