Subaru Impreza key reprogramming

Brothers bought a Scooby 2000 sport on a Y plate, and took it back up to the wilds of Scotland where he works. The remote central locking didn't work and the shoddy arfur daley type garage he bought it told him it wasn't fitted to his car. He's been to the scooby dealer somewhere up there and they told him he just needs the key reprogramming - £50 + vat.

Any method of reprogramming the fob without having to cough up that sort of cash?

it's a black keyfob with a single black circular button on it on one side and the embossed subaru logo on the back

AFAIK it can only be dome with specialist equipment. Find a local vehicle locksmith who will be much cheaper - and more friendly than a scooby main agent.

if its a sigma fob then you can reprogram it with the keypad this also applies to bmw and a few other cars that fit sigma. also if the battery goes flat it will need done again

im sure theres something in the car u can actualy take out.. but thats probably more hassle but my bro had similiar problem with his old wrx hes got a new 1 since ill ask him
