So says Enterbrain, anyway, which has been surveying Wii owners in Japan, and found that 46% of those polled hadn’t played another console in three years or more.
Around last year’s E3 show, there was a definite mood among games industry types that Wii would win over gamers who’d become jaded with the bigger/richer drive in console games in recent years, and the figures seemingly show that attitude’s extended to consumers too.
I’d be interested to see a breakdown of the figures even more though. For example, of the 46%, how many counted as latent gamers (i.e. people who DID play a console three years ago) and how many are completely new gamers?
