Update N95 / N95 8GB (or any Nokia) To Unbranded Firmware - 01/05/09

Hi mate,

I have an N73 and would like to update the firmware cos its playing up all the time.

Mines on O2 at the moment. What code did u change the product code too?

Whats the advantage of changing it to the music edition?

Also N73 ME has these extra....

The N73 Music edition feels a bit lower in volume but is much clearer and nicer to listen to. There are the extra music features here and there such as:

1) total time of all the music
2) the general scrolling has a much faster speed (to use when scrolling through the hundreds of songs on ur 2gb card)
3) Pic art and new music playing interface

Plus a few more bits here and there - well worth the upgrade

Rap..... when installing NSS do you just accept ther defaults? and what mode should I put my N73 in when connecting it? PC Suite, PictBridge, Mass Storage?

I tried the default on install and it just hangs when I scan for new devices

Finally got round to doing this today on my N70. Changed the Product code to - 0522157, then successfully upgraded firmware to V 5.0705.3.0.1 31-01-07 RM-84

Having bluetooth problems now - was fine before the upgrade. Is there an easy way to downgrade the firmware ?

Downgrade is possoble via a JAF service box (and poss a few others now) m8. But BB5 handsets cannot be downgraded via the online client.

Not what I was hoping to hear. Will have to hope they bring a new firmware out soon that will fix my phone. Thanks for your replies

Cant get NSS to install with xp, it hangs up at about 75% and says it encounterd a problem and needs to close.

just updated my sim-free N80 to N80 Internet Edition. Have to admit it was one of the most nerve racking experiences of my life as visions of my phone bricking came into my head !

Doesn't this "keep your operator's personalization (and revert to it, even if you flashed the phone to a non-branded firmware with Phoenix before)."

I would like to flash my N80 to internet edition but don't want to fcuk up my Three internet!! (or phone!)

the only thing i couldnt download was msn messenger, beacuse the certificates are removed.

am loving the N80 internet edition, managed to get my SIP/VOIP account configured to the internet telephone option on the phone and the thing works a treat. This feature isn't on the normal N80 and if you have a SIP/VOIP (not skype) account and a wireless network then in my opinion is worth the upgrade alone ! Now all I gotta do is go back and reinstall some stuff
