    Games Best console based emulator

Having downloaded and played for hours both Streets of Rage and Golden Axe, I have yet again, decided "they don't make games like they used to".

I now have an urge to play Streets of Rage 3, and owning pretty much every console available at the moment - and not having run any emu's for a few years, I was wondering what was generally consider to be the best console based emu?

I would prefer one where I could play multiplayer (not PSP/DS) but I am not really that fussed.

I would like one that runs pretty much perfectly, if there is such a thing (I would be emulating Megadrive / SNES games mainly, and perhaps some MAME).

    Any suggestions....?

xbox for mame. can't recall if it has decent md/snes emus though...prob does.

have been toying with snes on wii over the last few days though....the emu on the wiikey disk.(run on wiifree) far superior to the snes titles they want you to pay for.

theres a premade emu disk on merlins-portal.net (nzb) for the wii which includes loads of roms.

As for console based emulators, nothing beats the xbox. almost everything pre dreamcast is emulated very well, if not perfect.

Another vote for xbox. I just have 100's of ROMS on the HD and launch each emulator from XBMC.

NES, SNES, Mastersystem, Megadrive, N64 all work fine.

Deffo Xbox. If you're HD is big enough, you'll end up with more games than God.

gotta be the original XBOX. If you've got newsgroups access you need top get the Big Ass Emulator Disc collection.

    BAED DVD 1
Q: What systems are on the disc?

    A:- Atari 2600
    - Atari 7800
    - Atari Lynx
    - Colecovision
    - Intellivision
    - MSX
    - MSX2
    - Nintendo Entertainment System
    - Super NES
    - Sega Master System
    - Sega Genesis
    - Turbografx 16
    - Neo Geo Pocket
    - WonderSwan

Q: How many games for each system?

A: Well, I started off with full GoodTools sets for every console and whittled them down to
make them all fit. I removed all the overdumps and bad dumps, the unplayable crap. No point
in having those on the disc. I also deleted some 16-bit hacks. Also, a few official 16-bit games
had to go. I don't remember exactly what I took off, but I looked for European games
for which there is also a U.S. version and deleted the Euro version. I also deleted a few
    story-driven
Japanese games that are completely unplayable unless you speak Japanese. The total number of
official games deleted is probably only about 15-20.

    BAED DVD 2
Q: So, what's on this sucker?

    A: Gameboy: 1,480 games
    Gameboy Color: 1,233 games
    Gameboy Advance : 1,023 games
    Game Gear: 413 games

BAED DVD 3a, 3b and extras

It took a while, but BAED3 is here. I went through the entire MAME
set to pick out the non-working games and lame porno games. I may
have made a mistake or two, and there are also cases of non-working
parent ROMs having to stay on the disc to enable their working clones to
function, but I think it's safe to say that 99% of the games on the MAME
disc work. After pulling all those out, I was left with about 6GB.
From that, I took out all the CPS1/2/Neo Geo stuff and was left with 3.4GB.
    That's Disc A.

Disc B is FBA-XXX, which is the CPS1/2/Neo Geo stuff, including the newer
"banned" ROMs that aren't in the regular MAME set, like Metal Slug 5 and King of
Fighters 2003. Unlike the MAME disc, I didn't go through the games on here
with a fine-toothed comb, so there may be some games that don't work on the
FBA-XXX disc. All the files on here have been verified with a ROM auditing
tool, though, so hopefully there should be very few games that don't work. I
did successfully test (test = goof around and play) the majority of the
    most popular games.

    I'm also posting BAED3extra, which is u64x, the Killer Instinct 1 & 2
emulator. Unfortunately, that emulator is only playable from the
Xbox hard drive. That's why I made it a seperate archive, rather than
    including it on a disc.
here is the nzb file Enjoy !!!!

I have to admit I do use my PC for N64 emulation. Project 64 works brilliantly on my PC, shame I don't have a N64 controller to USB adapter thingy but my 360 pad works pretty good with it.
