    Default dell laptop rebooting

Can anyone help with this problem I have with my dell inspiron 6000 laptop. Over the last week I've had the dreaded blue screen, the problem being is that it reboots itself before I can actually see whats written on it. It then reboots and I receive a error message 'read failure on internal drive - no bootable devices - strike f1 to retry boot f2 for setup utility'. If i leave it for 10 mins or so it then reboots but say after 10/20mins blue screen again.
Just tonight the blue screen has stayed on long enough for me to read the error message which is 'problem with the following file partmgr.sys
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
    Can anyone help please??
    Thanks in advance

Have a read through here. You should have a look through the Event Viewer to see if there is anything obvious in there as well.

    Thanks for the reply
I've had a look but i'm no IT professional and I cannot make sense of it.
I think it something to do with a usb driver what I can make out but it doens't say how to resolve it.

do you still have the dell util CD? as you can boot from this and run a full diag, if not you can down load from the dell website, just enter your service tag into the support page.

    cheers

    partmgr.sys
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

looking at that its the harddrive, or your partion is screwed up, enter the bios boot from cd and use your dell util disk.

did it do a harddisk test? if this passed you need to reinstall xp as your partion must be screwed up.

Start the system and at the Dell Splash Screen Press F12

Run the Hard Drive Diags let me know how they get on.

What Virus software you got on your machine?

    what exactly is happening ?

press ctrl alt and d, on the dell logo screen on boot this will also run a harddisk test if you can't get any from the disk.
