Default Listening to MP3s in Car??

Ok what do you guys use?
I know allot of cars come now with ipod ports, but without doing to much research does this mean only IPODS work in them? or do any external HD MP3 PLayers work?

Also do USB Mp3 PLayers work in this type of In car radio.

Basically going to get a new car and want a new stereo where I can quickly decide what I want to listen to, so as well as it having dab (For Chill). I also would like to be able to plug in a personal MP3 player.

Also do tracks get displayed on the Unit itself or only on the MP3 Player?

What kind of set ups you guys got?

Was thinking about a JVC DAB with SD Card slot but I can imagine that being a pain, putting a fidley SD Card in all the time.

Dunno mate but I do know about things like the iTrip which let you plug it into the mp3 player and transmit it over FM so you can tune into it on your radio. Seem to work OK from what I have seen but you only see the track names on the iPod.

Ive just beeen loking fr a new stereo and decided to stick my old MD one in.

Some allow MP3 CD's to be put it, others have a connector for an ipod and give ipod control from the stereo, oterhs have an auxilary port (aux) which is just a 3.5mm jack plug you plug that in to your mp3 player every mp3 player has a headphone socket. others have usb ports and memory cards slots.

My sony head unit I have installed has the changer control ability and I have a sony hd3 mp3 player, with a connects2 box it can be wired up to the changer bus and controled from the head unit, before that I was looking at buying an MP3 cd changer.

i have a JVC CD/MP3 Player - This plays MP3 CD's and i have the Headphone jack for connecting ipods/mp3 players to via the standard headphone socket.

Seen some out there with Headphone jack and a USB plug in the front of them sounds more like what you need.

    have a look here

You could get a clarionplayer (such as http://www.clarionworld.co.uk/stock/dxz578rusb.asp) and use the cenet ipod adaptor (http://www.clarionworld.co.uk/stock/ea1251e.asp).

Or you could get one of these wireless gadgets... http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/cat/MP3/MP4...M-Transmitters

Or as has been said get a Head unit with a 3.5mm jack & pretty much any MP3 Player will work.

The advantage would be you can use any, make, model MP3 Player (even your phone) to play tracks from in the car & simply unplug & plug some earphones in & away you go.

Cheapest but not most elegant solution - for about 30 squid I bought a portable cd player from asda which can play mp3's. Included in the bundle was a cig lighter power lead and one of those thing you plug in the headphone socket on the cd player and a dummy tape you put in the radio at the other end.

Sound quality won't be setting any records, and navigating through was simply -/+, but it's dirt cheap and doesn't involve modifying the wiring at all.

@ New Art Riot - when the s634 came out, it was virtually the only unit that could handle mp3's. I don't think there were any off the shelf options that would bring up all the track names and album info and stuff back then.
