Default Looking for a digital camera

    Hi all,

I'm looking for a digital camera as I'm fed up of taking pictures with my phone. To be honest I haven't really got a clue what I am looking for, it's just for taking pictures of my newborn daughter, so it will only be used around the house/the garden etc.

Obviously the better the quality of a picture the better, I have a budget of around £150. Anybody advise me on what to go for?

    Many thanks.

P.s. Sorry if I'm posting in wrong section.

Check through this post, I asked a similar question.

Haven't took the step of updating mine yet as it still takes really good pics and can't afford to pull out the coin yet.

    Hope this helps?

Try this, one that was recommended in the post. I would jump at this but I have got all the accessories for a normal camera which puts me off buying a Sony.

i got one of these from amazon while i was in america last december, pretty good camera, xd cards are cheap and the batteries last a long time.(got 2 generic ones off fleabay for a few quid and work perfectly fine). if you know someone who lives there or anyone making a trip you can have it delivered to them, i had mine delivered to the hotel.
this camera has a great super macro function too.

get the pentax optio s7. (google). picked it up for £120 but ebuyer did have them for £100 but were out of stock.

7mp, plus takes high capacity SD cards - my 4gb card can hold about 3 and a half hours of movie footage - excellent for a camera! nice sleek design, and big LCD viewing screen

Don't forget anything on ebuyer is subject to 10 quid off if it is over 30. Personally I would be looking to Canon but that is personal choice. I have used a few of their compacts and currently own an Ixus 500 along with my DSLR which is a great little point and shoot with some manual control when required. They are slighlty more expensive. I would have a look through your Bounty pack dished out at the hospital when your kid was born as they usually have a 50 quid off voucher for Canon cameras in them.

I'll have a vote for Canon, my folks were after a snap & go job a while back. They went for the Ixus 60 (£200 back then so maybe cheaper now)

I got a Samsung Digimax for £99 for myself. Nice and simple and not to big, easy to whip out for those up skirts shots.
