Default How can I measure me bike travel?

When the weather is good as it has been this past week, I take kids to school and am out on my push bike from around 9.30 till 3 and travel all over the place within my town, and it's a bloody hilly place so I got thinking of how much, on average, mileage I might cover a day, is there a device a bit like the old dynamo you can attach to your bike to show mileage covered? I know on top of that there is the extra effort involved with steep hills etc. but what you clamber up, you roll down lol.
