Default Gunners are offered Eto as bait

According to spanish reports Eto has been offered to Arsenal as well as 17million for Henry.

If it is true, what are your thoughts.

If I was an Arsenal fan I would snap their hands off.
4yrs younger and 17million, well worth the gamble.

    Eto'o rules out Arsenal transfer

    07:25 24/05/2007

Samuel Eto'o will not be playing for Arsenal Football Club next season.

The Cameroon international striker has strongly been linked with a £20million+ transfer to the Gunners this summer, yet he has told feelfootball.com he is more than happy with life in Barcelona.

"I am happy at Barcelona and will definitely be here next season," said Eto'o. "I have no idea where I will be in a few years' time, but at the moment I have a contract with Barcelona until 2010.

"There have been so many lies written about me. In fact, I would say that 99.999 per cent of the things I have ready about myself in the papers have been untrue."

Just read this on SkySports. I agree Wenger should snap Barca's hands off! If (BIG *IF*) this is genuine how lucky can Arsenal get???

Eto's a far better player and a lot younger than henri shouldnt the cash be going the other way.

Henry is a proven top class striker in this division though, the jury is out on eto'o in the premiership. Money going Arsenals way is right in my opinion.

In england he's done well wasnt so good before, plus he's had a lot of injurys recently, i think eto's a class above henri, and i think he's about 5 years younger so also a more saleable asset.

good move for arsenal they cant lose either way.

17 million sounds very high as someone said if anything the money would surely be the other way round and Arsenal paying Barca some money as part of the deal.If Eto'o is valued at say 30 million then that would make Henry a 47 million pound 30 year old. He's good but he's not worth that.

A straight swap would be more likely but if i was Barca even then i'd feel a little ripped off.

Christ, talk about no brainer. Henry has become a bit of a problem for Arse in my opinion. Last season they were tonnes better when he was away from the team, and 17 million plus Eto'o is just daft for a player tired of football and becoming injury prone!

i love Henry done alot for our club, but 17 mil and another world class striker if its true thats the kinda business arsenal like. Just like the cashley A-hole situation where we got 5 million and a world class center back.

Means nothing it's just a gesture to the fans in my eyes it make it look like he doesn't want to leave...not that he's not going to.

Just reading back some of the comments. Eto'o better than Henry? Good lord. Better at what precisely?

Going on 18-30 holidays next year.

It's not that Eto'o is the better player but the fact that Henry is 30 to pay what amounts to 47 mil for say 2 more top years seems bad business really.
When they could sell eto'o for at least 25 mil probably more and offer the Arse that alone.
