Default Mountain Biking in the Lake District

Hopefully, I am taking the wife and kids up to the lake district camping in the next few days. The missus has give me a pass to take me bike with me.

    We usually stay around Windermere.

Could anyone recommend any good places to go on the bike whilst up there?

    Thanks

Grizedale has some interesting routes. Best thing to do is get one of the leaflets in the Tourist Info offices while you are there and pick what you fancy. I like Skiddaw myself.

Skiddaw is mint, theres a really long bike route up through the mountains, and down the other side coming back on the road. It takes about 2-3 hours but well worth it, you also get some lovely scenery views.

    Have a good one mate

Skiddaw is good backwards as well. A little different though but well worth another afternoon of your trip.

Thanks for the replies. I only managed to get from Wray to Bowness due to forgetting my hayfever kit and it knocking me for six.

    Next time hopefully.

    Thanks

I was knackered after the first run, there was no way i was doing it backwards. After that we headed to the pub, got pissed than found our way back to the campsite and carried on there.

But it is a brilliant bike ride, the rocks are a bit tricky, but good fun, specially when my mate went to turn his wheel to avoid a collision with a rock, and as he done so, only his handlebars turned and not his wheel. crash.
