ford street ka stalling..

HI all...
purchased a 04 ford street ka a month ago..off my local ford dealer.
when driving it ,it keeps stalling at junctions, as this is therefore dangerious to drive as the power steering does not work, abs does not work when it cuts out..
its been back to my local ford dealer, 3 times now the 4th is on monday...they keep telling me it's sorted ..but as it still stalls it can't be....how do i fair regarding demanding they sort it or else i want my money back...please help..cheers

sounds like it could be the idle control valve (or your just a bad driver ),
is it happening when you dip the clutch when approaching junctions/roundabouts etc?
have a fiesta that had the same problem when i first got it, the dealer i bought it from didn't have a clue and tinkered a few times and never fixed it, i found out what it was from a mate who works for rapid-fit in bolton, let the dealer know and they replaced the part.

please introduce yourself in the intro section as well and read the rules or you might get a flaming from some of the grumpy old timers.

as above mate, its the idle control valve thats faulty, does it hunt for revs when idle,ie does the engine note pick up then die off, if so it might have an air leak but its more likly to be the control vavle, most good motor factor places have them

try putting some lippy on using ur rear view mirror next time your at a junction. Every other street ka driver ive seen does this nd their cars work fine.

The power steering and ABS won't work because the engine has stalled and is therefore no longer creating the vaccum needed for the brakes, or turning the pump for the power steering. If it has been in more than once I would assume they would have done visual checks for cut or broken vaccum pipes causing the problem, but I'd check just in case. The idle control valve could be the problem, but so could a host of other things, so its best to get a diagnostics check done on it, don't let them pap you off, demand it be tested properly and the problem solved or you'll be seeking advice from trading standards as it is not fit for the purpose it was sold to you for.

Get them to put it on the IDS diagnostic machine, There will be a later calibration for the PCM. More than likely it will list a few items that will be addressed by the update ie.... hot drivability, Ego sensor out of range, idle undershoot

If they've still not fixed it by now then ask for a complete print out of the diagnostics data as then at least you know they've ran the diagnostics on it in the first place.

And suggest you've heard it could be the idle control valve or the o2 (oxygen) sensor and for them to check it out.

You've probably been given a ford extended warranty which should be able to use at any ford dealership, so if you don't get any joy from them take it to another.

You'd be amazed at the difference one dealer can make from the other!

dam car been in fords all week..they say nothing is wrong with it. had it back last nite. drove it 12 miles last nite, eng managment light came on AGAIN..back in fords this morn...waiting to see what they say this time...cheers all........

HI ALL.....its been back in fords yet again...they said it was the idle control valve,,after i told um last week...they say they have changed it..but when i looked for it, the valve that i think it is did not look new..
please have anybody got any pics of this valve on a 04 street ka..as it.s in a different position on the normal ka....and i now where that one is........cheers

Is it a 1.3 or a 1.6?

Street KA has 1.6 engine, as opposed to the 1.3 in other models except the sport KA. just to make sure we're on the same page.

sport.. street ka only fitted with 1.6..all the rest 1.3
