Xbox 360 Xbox 360 vs PlayStation 3 GFX comparison Round2

    From gamespot.com:

It's been more than six months since we published our first Xbox 360 versus PlayStation 3 graphics comparison feature. Games on both systems looked great, but the Xbox 360 games had more polish. We found that the Xbox 360 edged out the PlayStation 3 with higher-resolution textures and better lighting. The result of the first comparison wasn't surprising--the Xbox 360 had been available for a year and developers were already cranking out second-generation games, while the PlayStation 3 had just arrived in retail with its first-generation games. We decided to check on a few games released in recent months to see if the PlayStation 3 has caught up to or overtaken the Xbox 360.

Our quick seven-game tour has shown that the PlayStation 3's game graphics are getting closer to the Xbox 360's. The Xbox 360 had an edge in texture quality and antialiasing in many of the games, but we didn't see any nasty lighting deficiencies like the ones we found in Fight Night Round 3 in the original comparison feature. Additionally, in what may be a hint of things to come, Bethesda's Oblivion proved that there can be a PS3 game port with better textures than the Xbox 360 version. The PS3's graphics win in Oblivion gives us hope that game developers will be able to produce competitive graphics if given enough time to work with the hardware. We can't wait to see how the games compare this holiday season!

That comparison is complete and utter bullshit. I mean look at the virtua tennis 3 screenies, clearly they've either taken the ps3 shots with a camera and it's out of focus or they've forced it through RF or composite for the video out. I've got virtua tennis on both 360 + PS3 and the PS3 one is far crisper and has no slowdown like the 360 one, clearly they got a bunch of 360 fanboys to do those screenies.

I had a quick look. Most games apart from armoured core 4 looked better on the box. It seems the ps3 needs some optimization for ports i have both consoles so i aint assed

yaaawn, exactly the same games with miniscule differences, its not like anyone if going to swap machines for that is it? even if the 360 games were the inferior, i dont think they are £200 worth of inferior.

They should be trying to provide a different gaming experience on each machine, not just the same thing over and over again.

im finding all the new console a bit shit. Ive had all of them but am more interested in neo geo stuff than anything on any of the new console. All the new games are a bit shit and just sequels of stuff off previous generations.

    WE NEED FRESH CONTENT.

Well said. The graphics were a big pull initially but once you're used to them as you said the games are largely the same old crap. Even before live went down I was playing less and less.

I agree, they keep using the same old game engines to reproduce the same old crap, they should look back in time to games on the amiga/ST/neo geo/cps/mame and rework some of them classics.

Shufflepuck cafe, megalomania, Turrican 2, Cannon fodder, Dungeon master, lemmings, SNK vs Capcom, to name a few.

sonic is a fine example of how to ruin an old classic trying to make it better.

tis not the graphics and presentation what sells, its the not being able to put the pad down cause you want 1 last go.

I still play MAME on my old xbox and probably will till the xbox720 comes out ..
