the ones were they chopped the legs off the chip so the mods dont work this 1st one i seen so far have to dremel the enamel off the chip to get wires to solder on them

chopped the legs off the chip?! are they actually chopped off, or have they just removed the tracks and pads that you used to solder to, and covered the legs in enamel?

from what i read they are cut off completely, not even any little stubby bits left to solder to
tracks are intact and if u can get to them you can use them still

it was a d2b with 3 pins cut off aint seen a d2c yet

you have to grind about half way down defore you actually get somewere to solder too

Friend of mine got 2 other day he couldn't do, they were D2B (as others I've done) but chip just didn't work.
Wii sports that came with the pack came in a cardboard pack instead of a retail DVD box.

yep he got ones with the legs cut off as the wii sports does come in a sleeve not a case like before

i didnt use a link m8 i spoke to glen he told me you need to dremel the chip away to get points to chip it

mine has the wii sports in a card folder and sure enough mine are cut off. Got a tech genius to do it for me though!!

Nope, your gonna have to cut into the chip....you need to be brave to do this.

i did russbeer's wii earlier today, had the cut pins so i set to it with my dremil.

It wasnt that hard at all, you just need to take your time and only do small grindings at one time.
Getting the wire joined to the exposed copper can be quite tricky tho, depending on how much you expose.

can anyone do a quick diagram - which pins on the modchip to which pins on the exposed chip etc.
im going to have a go at this later.

Just had a try, takes less than a minute, thought it would be a nightmare but it comes off really nicely.

Could it not just be relinked to the board and use the existing wiring pins?

ruggie i tried to relink the exposed points to the solder pad where the legs used to go but i found it impossible to get both ends soldered at the same time.
