Bent makes £16.5m Tottenham move

Bent scored 37 goals in 79 appearances for Charlton Athletic

Tottenham have signed England striker Darren Bent from Charlton for a club record £16.5m. Bent, 23, passed a medical on Thursday and signed a deal for up to six years with the transfer fee being paid in instalments.
He said: "Tottenham have a lot of young English players and it's a young squad, it's a squad going forward and that's the direction I wanted to take.
"It's exciting times for me and Spurs and hopefully I'll show what I can do."


Its a crazy world we live in when Darren Bent costs more than Thierry Henry!!

yes but a certain mr herny is considerably older than mr bent, it is a lot of money but who else can you get who is a proven goalscorer in the prem, its all well and good throwing 25M+ on a foreigner ala rebrov and schevchenko its not always guaranteed to get a decent return. I can't see Defoe staying now will be interesting to see what kind of price is on his head
